It’s really no secret, we are all stressed! The constant updates on your phone leave us on edge, whether it be texts, emails, Facebook updates, twitter…you name it, what we don’t realize is it puts us in a constant state of fight or flight. Think about it a tiny device that constantly is the reason for our highs and lows. The highs that we get from receiving communication or updates actually gets our heart racing, we wait for it whether we realize it or not. We are always alert, always waiting for that next moment of information. So how does this affect us?

Now, how can we reduce this? My answer, you guessed it…Marijuana!

The largest reductions in stress symptoms appeared from using products that had high levels of THC and high levels of CBD. Since stress is a response due to the Central nervous system, our central nervous system (CNS) is in charge of your “fight or flight” response. In your brain, the hypothalamus gets the ball rolling, telling your adrenal glands to release the stress hormones adrenaline and cortisol. These hormones rev up your heartbeat and send blood rushing to the areas that need it most in an emergency, such as your muscles, heart, and other important organs. When the perceived fear is gone, the hypothalamus should tell all systems to go back to normal. If the CNS fails to return to normal, or if the stressor doesn’t go away, the response will continue. The endocannabinoid system if activated, thank you cannabis, only sends the receptors needed to bring your body back to homeostasis, leveling you out faster and not having quite the elongated stress response our bodies have been accustomed to, which lessens the turmoil on our bodies! Yes, cannabis could potentially save us from a heart attack, which could literally save a life!
